The Montreal Chamber Music Festival is taking place this May in the Canadian city. It includes performances at the St George's Anglican Church featuring a wide variety of genres, from jazz and rock to classical chamber ensembles. In addition, the complete cycle of string quartets by Beethoven will be played over a six concert series featuring the world-renowned Tokyo String Quartet and Canada's own Afiara String Quartet. Also, before each concert, a lecture will be given by Rich Turp, who is a classical music connoisseur.
While Montreal boasts a variety of quality accommodations, the Westin Montreal is an exceptional hotel to spend the late-evenings and early mornings. This world class luxury hotel is perfectly located in downtown Montreal and has many comfortable beds.
If the soft, sensual purr of a saxophone is all that's needed to lull a concertgoer off to sleep, then attending the concert on the second night of the festival (May 6) might be ideal, as the Andre Leroux Sax Quartet will be performing alongside Cuban percussionist Eugenio "Kiko" Osorio and bassist Remi-Jean Leblanc.
